Earlier in my blog, I talked about my Altered Realities digital collage. Now I would like to tell you something about another part of my world, which is Whimsical Light and Bright. If you have seen my digital collage art in Altered Realities, you will notice the colors are usually more intense and a littler darker. I weave in fantasy, steampunk, vintage and even a touch of grunge. I love those worlds, but what about people that like brighter or lighter colors? What would a young child like? My favorite colors are blue and green, but I know there are some people out there that even like yellow. I will let you in on a little secret-I do not like yellow. No yellow in my wardrobe or kitchen!
I decided to create digital collage art with some lighter color schemes, colors that would pop, like a bright rainbow. In this world, there is less of a steampunk or grunge influence and more fantasy and fun. The dictionary defines whimsy as being fanciful or fantastic, especially in writing or art. I feel like Whimsical Light and Bright describes my digital collage the best. How else could you describe a purple rabbit munching on a string of carrots, colorful butterflies flying around a pink rainbow, or bright swirls that might possible be hiding a dragon? Some of my art would be great for framing and hanging in a child’s room. The bright colors and whimsical themes will help to stimulate their imagination. Adults might like some of my more abstract pieces to display not only at home, but in an office. There is a variety of colors and subjects to choose from for those that have a little bit of whimsy in their hearts. |
