Tuesday, October 26, 2021 Inspiration, Photos, and Imagination
So, what does inspiration, photos, and imagination have in common? The answer is: my art! What do I use for inspiration? One of the main sources is photos. I collect photos and separate them into folders on my computer. I also take my own photos to use in my art. The photos would just be pictures of things if my imagination did not factor in. Through imagination, I can see new worlds, different landscapes or unusual placement of familiar objects. Take one of my newest digital composites, called Stars Run. One the left is my inspiration, a photo of horses running on the beach. Lovely, but not unusual. The next image is not a photo, but my own creative interpretation of space. Now, what if I combine the two and throw in another photo based on a Hubble image? Do some color changes, use filters, change blending modes and opacity? Now, that is different, even unique.See my finished digital composite on the far right. How many photos of horses running on the beach have those colors? Have you ever seen a night sky like that? Why do I call this Stars Run and not Star Run? Can you guess?
I thought I would share with you my heart in the art I do. I hope you enjoy looking into my creative process.
