Have you stopped by my Gallery yet? If you have, you will see that my digital collage art world is divided into three different areas. Today I would like to tell you a little bit about my “Altered Realities” world. My inspiration comes from the world around us, like mountains, beach scenes or ordinary things. I look at a scene and think of how I can make it different. Can I use different colors? What if I make the moon purple or the sand on the beach turquoise or maybe orange grass? I start thinking of how color can change something ordinary into something completely different. What about location? Take mushrooms. They usually grow in the forest and are not very big. What about giant mushrooms on the beach? Who would think of that? I did a whole series called “Mushroom World”, putting mushrooms on the beach, in the ocean, and even a roof with mushrooms.
Sometimes I play with location, sometimes with color or the unexpected like shadows where there should be no shadows, or no shadows at all. When you look at my digital collage art, you have to decide what is happening, what is this altered world telling you. I use photos, scanned objects, and digital brushes to create a new, altered realities to help you to look at what is normal or ordinary and what is not and see things a little differently.
I hope that my “Altered Realities” digital collage art will inspire you to look at life differently, especially now as the world around us is changing. Maybe a smiling moon or a newspaper rabbit will become part of your reality and you will find that some alterations are good.
